As the Lunar New Year approaches, we all find ourselves wondering—
is it possible to make festive New Year dishes feel easier and more relaxed,
while still being rich in flavor, aroma, and presentation?
This year, Coquology invites Millio Lu to bring her signature, slightly unconventional New Year dishes to the table.
-
From a light yet deeply flavorful salted Buddha Jumps Over the Wall, to dishes that look elaborate but can actually be completed in just 20 minutes, this class is about cooking together, eating together, and preparing the taste of the New Year in advance. ❤
Building on traditional foundations, Millio loves introducing unexpected twists in flavor. While her dishes may look complex, many of them are surprisingly quick and approachable.
In this special pre–New Year class, Millio will teach her family’s distinctive salted Buddha Jumps Over the Wall, known for its fragrant, layered broth, along with two elegant yet simple dishes—mullet roe & shrimp lettuce wrapsand iso-ni abalone—each taking only about 20 minutes to prepare.
The golden, goose-yellow broth of the salted Buddha Jumps Over the Wall features fresh winter bamboo shoots and abalone, complemented by tender fish maw and pork tripe. The layers of flavor are rich yet refreshing, making it irresistibly moreish.
Shrimp lettuce wraps combine the natural sweetness of shrimp with crisp textures from various ingredients—a dish we usually only order at restaurants, yet one that turns out to be surprisingly easy to master.
Fresh abalone sounds intimidating? Not at all. Iso-ni abalone is a dish anyone can prepare with ease—and it never fails to impress the moment it’s served.
